The Studio

I create data experiences that have a deep connection to how we make sense of our world.

First we draw, then we see, then we understand.

My Story

I believe good design and powerful storytelling can bring a brand’s essence and personality to life. From conception to project completion listening is my top priority to ensure we deliver the best possible results for my clients. My approach combines skills from my background in film art direction, architecture, digital design and data visualization to provide a new perspective on visual representation.

My Process

Think. This is 90% of the job.

Ask. Discover the things you don’t know.

Make. Create something new.

Collaborate. Big things can’t be done alone.

Revise. Repeat until budget/time allow.

Services

Creative Direction

My production team is currently working on fabricating a large scale data art installation and providing creative direction for a new data visualization art gallery.

We are interested in collaborations with people who want to create a next-level experience of their data for their internal teams and clients.

Data Visualization

I have created many custom data visualizations and stand alone extensions for visualizing data in new and tangible ways. I use Tableau, Data Illustrator and Excel to explore the data, then create bespoke visual representations either in screen based, tangible or physical modalities.

My team can develop simple dashboard layouts or more complex custom visualizations to see and understand the shape of your data.

Education and Corporate  Workshops

I offer private workshops for corporate teams to develop a bespoke data strategy and to share basic data visualization principles and skills.

I have taught graduate and undergrad courses in Engineering, Computer Science and Digital Media Programs in Canada and the US.

  • Design Thinking and Drawing

  • Introduction to Data Visualization

  • Interface Design

  • Visual Cognition
